Exciting news for families in South Hedland! A new Children’s Service will be supporting Hedland families soon with One Tree South Hedland set to open in a few months! 

Part of our work at the Hedland Collective last year was advocating for more childcare places, so we are so excited to hear this fantastic news, knowing that extra support will mean so much to so many local families. It just goes to show that when we come together, we can achieve great results for our community! 

Hailey Farrell, One Tree Regional Manager said they are excited to be opening this new service in South Hedland which will be the sister centre to Len Taplin Children’s Service. “Len Taplin has recently expanded in size”, she said, “enabling the service to take on more babies which is where the current community need seems to be.”  

One Tree believe that opening this new service and expanding the current site will help support the community with the current lack of childcare positions within the town, which will then help provide support to working families and families wanting to return to work.  

At One Tree, they believe in working with communities rather than in communities. Their philosophy is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, which is an innovative and inspiring method to early childhood education, and values the child as strong, capable and resilient, rich with wonder and knowledge. The philosophy rides on the coattails of the innate curiosity of children and aims to assist them with understanding their world and who they are in it.
